Case Study – Pershore Tennis Centre
We’ve managed the media and communications at Pershore Tennis Centre since 2013. The role includes general business support, strategic planning, event organisation, managing content within the day-to-day blogs and external press releases to local publications as well as updating the club’s social media feeds with interesting, relevant and timely news.
In support of the business’ growth, we project managed the successful implementation of a new fully automated web-based booking and lighting system – one of only a few in the country to boast such innovative environmentally-friendly LED lighting and automation. In turn, this supports the draw the club can achieve – appealing to a wider audience – despite being a little off the beaten track. Using PR to its full potential – we’ve certainly helped to raise the game for Pershore Tennis Centre.
You Do Better also support the players and coaches with their own successes and stories – spreading the news about their wins on and off court. For example, we completed and submitted the initial applications to Herefordshire and Worcestershire’s Lawn Tennis Association.
We’re delighted that Head Coach – Steve Bauer – won Coach of the year for 2017 and 2018, Disability programme of the year 2017 and runner-up in 2018 and that Pershore Tennis Centre also achieved the status of Club of the year 2018 and runner up in 2017.
To be awarded ‘Club of the Year’ is an amazing achievement for Pershore Tennis Centre. Four years ago with membership numbers dwindling and the outdoor courts reaching the end of their playing life the committee decided to take some bold steps. Winning ‘Club of the Year’ is a testament to those bold steps. We knew we needed to increase our presence in the local community through social media, we knew we needed to offer our members more than just courts to play on …
Thank you for your help – great work! It’s great having an expert like Ruby who knows exactly how best to present and post onto social media which is done instantly for you. My online presence has increased and I am seeing the benefits with more enquiries and more people taking up lessons. Thank you!
In addition, our nomination of Bradley Smith led him on the road to Wimbledon – a smashing experience for all of us involved! Since then, Bradley won Wychavon’s sporting hero in the community award in March 2017 and then went on to win the Herefordshire and Worcestershire LTA’s county award for young volunteer of the year in October 2017.
In June 2018, Bradley won the Midlands Tennis regional young volunteer of the year 2017. And finally, at Wimbledon 2018, Bradley joined the other two national finalists in the British Tennis’ regional young volunteer of the year 2017. Whilst he didn’t win the coveted award – he did have an ace time! Paul Smith – Bradley’s Father said:
Unfortunately it wasn’t to be Bradley’s day and sadly he didn’t win the national award for young volunteer. However to come in the last three is a fantastic achievement and will last him a lifetime. We both enjoyed the day at Wimbledon and it was a great journey for Bradley to experience. I would like to thank all involved in making this happen. Special thanks to both Sarah and Ruby for the nomination and Steve for his enthusiasm and drive within the team at Pershore Tennis Centre. Best wishes and thank you.
Paul Smith – Bradley’s Dad.
