Working with FSB: an annual review

FSB Shropshire, Herefordshire & Worcestershire – Member story:

On the anniversary of You Do Better PR’s membership, we look back at the journey the business has taken and chat with owner Ruby Edwards to find out what the benefits of being a member has been.

Over the last year, You Do Better has grown their portfolio and worked with organisations like West Mercia Police, Worcester City Council and Moreton Show. With an eye on increasing their skillset as well as their bottom line, Ruby and the business’ team of associates are growing from strength to strength.

Since its launch in 2017, the business has grown from strength to strength, becoming incorporated earlier this year. The pay-as-you-go business model has allowed You Do Better to grow in profit and remain stable in the market.

Ruby explains: “More often than not, Public Relations Agencies work on a retained basis, but You Do Better break through that barrier to entry by charging an affordable hourly rate.”

Making Public Relations accessible to every business in the West Midlands, the PR Agency sets a transparent £45 per hour rate, ensuring that money doesn’t impede access to the power of Public Relations.

Ruby continues: “Pay-as-you go public relations may sound like a gimmick. It isn’t. It has been thoughtfully devised to provide flexible options for businesses who do not have a year-round marketing requirement. By outsourcing your marketing and allowing experienced marketers to take the lead, you can be freed up to do what you do.”

Together with the talented team of associates who work alongside her, Ruby and co have managed social media campaigns, out-of-home offerings, print and digital media and liaised with countless producers, editors and journalists to negotiate air time, editorial and book ad space.

This year alone, Ruby has saved money by migrating her business banking to the Co-operative under the FSB scheme. You Do Better have also made the most of the FSB Insurance offerings and secured a favourable deal on Professional Indemnity:

“A timely chat led to a fantastic quote – which was not only half the price of my current policy it also covered more – so it was a no-brainer for me to sign on the dotted line.”

Ruby and the team have also flexed their expertise and managed nomination forms for clients entering the FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards. In the West Midlands the deadline for these is 26th January 2024.

Ruby concludes: “Being part of an organisation like FSB demonstrates your businesses’ dedication to professional standards and unites you with like-minded colleagues. The benefits of FSB membership have certainly outweighed the costs for me and my small business.”

So, if you’re thinking about joining us, why not ‘be more Ruby’ and chat with us today about the membership benefits for you and your business?
