PR: A pivotal piece of the marketing jigsaw

by | Jan 31, 2019

Public relations is one piece of a marketing strategy puzzle – a key piece that focuses on reputation management.

That’s the message from today’s speech we undertook alongside Lorraine Henry from Henry Pepper PR and the local charities we asked to join us in a collaborative approach to the Chamber’s Women’s Business Forum.

Lorraine said:

The Women’s Business Forum is always a popular event in the Chamber’s calendar and it was brilliant to see so many businesswomen attending, asking questions and networking. PR and media relations has benefitted countless charities across the two counties so it was great to get everyone together and really focusing on what PR can deliver. Ruby and the Chamber organised a superb event.

The sold-out event received fantastic feedback from attendees too:

A well attended event, lovely to hear about the collaboration taking place as a result of these networking groups

Tracey Marlow-Jones, Director, Indegu.

Chatting about maintaining positive relationships and reputation as well as the benefits and ROI of a long term investment, Ruby and Lorraine provided an insight into how PR can work well for all of the organisations attending the event. Focused on the Chamber’s current topic, Primrose Hospice, Worcestershire Community Foundation and the Grace Kelly Ladybird Trust were invited to join Ruby, talking about Funny Blood, in discussing how public relations can support a strategy for charities and good causes too.

Yasmin Bent from the Chamber said:

The collaboration between our member speakers, You Do Better, Henry Pepper PR and the three charitable organisations gave a fantastic insight into what great work charities and good causes do and what a diverse range we have in the two counties, all supporting important causes. It was great to hear how imperative PR can be in helping charities raise awareness of their services, gain funding and support from local businesses.

PR predominantly involves ‘free media’ with the purpose of developing discussion and generate coverage without directly paying for it, then charities are well-placed to gain traction with their stories. And that’s what we do.
